The ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) unites the National Endocrinology societies of Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Myanmar. The idea to form a federation of Endocrine Societies was mooted in Manila during the 2nd Asia-Oceania Congress of Endocrinology in 1962. AFES was inaugurated and had its first Congress in Indonesia in 1981. Today the federation continues its projects by collaborating with other national, regional and international societies like the Endocrine Society, the International Society of Endocrinology and more.
